I spend my days as an artworker creating a sense of connection. I site art to define identity and encourage discovery. Realizing this idea requires research, creative team building, conceptual design, project and budget management, scheduling, procurement, commissioning, art direction, production, framing and supervision of installations for owners, architects, interior designers, property managers, and developers.
With studies in Fine Art, Art History and Anthropology at the University of Colorado, Boulder, I dig deep into the past, as well as keep a keen eye on the present and future of art.
As an exhibition designer at two encyclopedic museums - The Indianapolis Museum of Art and The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, I created environments to exhibit art. Exhibits ranged in time periods and varied in medium of art and culture, including the great Chinese painter Tung Ch’i-ch’ang (1555-1636) "the Picasso of the Ming Dynasty," to a contemporary exhibit of Claes Oldenburg’s process sketches and models of his 4 - 18’ tall Shuttlecocks on the museum grounds.
My focus now as an art consultant is finding art that is a unifying force in great spaces designed by others. While at Parker Blake, I honed my skills in a wide variety of art projects. From partnering with Robert A.M. Stern's firm and Disney on a French Art Deco hotel in Tokyo to providing trophy fish painted with Harley flames and surfboards to a funky Mexican cantina. My work continues on.....
